Our program has an early application deadline (January 15, 2015) and participates in the April computer match. Because our program is a combined graduate degree program and a dietetic internship program, the application process involves several steps. In order to be ranked by us for the computer match, you must first be accepted into the University of Florida Graduate School and the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department. For this reason, all prospective students must apply online to the University of Florida Graduate School and to the Food Science and Human Nutrition (FSHN) Department MS-DI Program by January 15, 2015 (deadline for receipt of online application materials; post-mark date for materials to be sent via mail), and you must submit the application forms published by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics using the Academy’s online Dietetic Internship Centralized Application System (DICAS) by February 15, 2015. This means that multiple copies of some original documents (e.g., official, sealed transcripts) will be needed in order to satisfy the UF Graduate School admission requirements and the Academy’s DICAS requirements. When applying for the MS-DI Program, please send an email to the FSHN Graduate Clerk, Marianne Mangone, giving her your name, UF ID number, and informing her that you have applied to the MS-DI Program.
Applicants who submit complete application packets by the January 15th deadline will be notified about their admission status by email (with a follow up letter sent via the US Postal Service) prior to the deadline for changing computer matching choices. Application materials are not returned to students regardless of the outcome of the application process. Prospective students should also be sure to provide a phone number and email address where they can be reached, if necessary, on Appointment Day. In addition to the information provided on this website, applicants should thoroughly review their responsibilities (i.e., Applicant Responsibilities) related to the computer matching process.
To be eligible for the MS-DI program, applicants must have completed or be in the process of completing an accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD). The DPD provides the required dietetics coursework leading to a bachelor’s or graduate degree. For more information about this requirement, go to http://www.eatright.org/students/education/dpd.aspx.
The minimum requirements for admission to the University of Florida Graduate School include an earned Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or comparable degree from an international institution; a minimum undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale); and a competitive score on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Applicants who meet the minimum requirements of the Graduate School are considered for admission to the FSHN Department. Acceptance into the department is competitive, with attention given to GPA, GRE scores, applicant’s personal statement, letters of recommendation, the strength of the applicant’s course of study and performance in biology, chemistry, biochemistry and related courses. Applicants for our combined MS-DI program who are accepted into the FSHN graduate program are reviewed by a selection team who consider all of the aforementioned materials, as well as the applicant’s accomplishments and potential for success. The average GPA and GRE scores (5 year average) of successful applicants are 3.67 and 1187 (306 combined verbal and quantitative using newest scoring system), respectively. All applicants must have their program director submit a completed copy of the Academy’s Verification Statement or Declaration of Intent to Complete Degree for their DICAS application. (Applicants who are matched to the program must submit an original copy of the Verification Statement to the MS-DI Program Director before starting the program.) Applicants also must participate in the computer matching process managed by D&D Digital (deadline: February 15, 2015, 11:59 PM Central Time). UF Graduate School Application Deadlines, Fees and Late Applications
The deadline for application to the University of Florida’s Graduate School and the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department is January 15, 2015 (deadline for receipt of online application materials; post-mark deadline for materials to be sent via mail). The Graduate School application fee is $30.00. There are no other application fees for our program, but there are fees for the DICAS application and the D&D Digital computer match (see below). Late applications (i.e., applications that become complete after the January 15th deadline or new applications submitted/post-marked after the January 15th deadline) will be considered through February 15, 2015 (deadline for receipt of online application materials; post-mark deadline for materials to be sent via mail). Only applications that include all of the required materials by this receipt/post-mark date will be considered. Due to the review process and internal processing, prospective students who submit late applications may not receive notification of acceptance/denial into the University of Florida Graduate School until after the D&D Digital computer ranking deadline has passed. Late applications may not meet the deadline for assistantship decisions.
Graduate School Application
Complete the online graduate school application (http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/start.html). The application fee ($30.00) can be paid online with a credit card. The application will require you to include the following:
Applicant’s Personal Statement (500 words) providing a clear description of why you want to enter the dietetics profession, your short and long term goals, how completing this program corresponds with your career goals, experiences that have helped prepare you for a career in dietetics, and strengths and weaknesses or areas for improvement. (You can use the same statement for the DICAS application; see below.)
Three letters of recommendation. When completing the application form, applicants must include the name and contact information for each reference. This will trigger an email message requesting completion of a reference form. The form will be completed online.
Arrange for other materials to be sent per the instructions listed on the Graduate School website (i.e., official, sealed transcripts, official Graduate Record Examination scores, etc.). Materials to be mailed to the Graduate School should be mailed to the following address:

There is no application fee for this portion of the application. The online application to the Graduate School will be sent automatically to the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department; HOWEVER, another set of the following materials must be sent separately to the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department.
Materials to be mailed to the FSHN Department include:
- Official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores. International students also need to submit a TOEFL score.
- Official transcripts (unopened originals) from all colleges and universities attended.
- All applicants are considered for Graduate Assistantships. An additional application is not necessary.

The Academy’s DICAS Application Materials
Our program uses the online centralized internship application (DICAS), which may be accessed at https://portal.dicas.org. (NOTE: The availability date of the DICAS portal for the Spring Match is unknown at this time. For more information, email DICASinfo@DICAS.org.) The online application must be completed for our program by 11:59 PM CENTRAL TIME on FEBRUARY 15, 2015. The fee to use DICAS is $40 for the first application submitted and $20 for each additional application.
Materials Needed to Apply Using DICAS
Personal statement, to include the same information as outlined above (up to 1000 words; why you want to enter the dietetics profession, your short and long term goals, how completing this program corresponds with your career goals, experiences that have helped prepare you for your career, and strengths and weaknesses or areas for improvement). You can use the same personal statement that you used for the Graduate School application or expand that statement up to 1000 words.

The name and contact information (email address) for each reference must be provided. This will trigger an email message requesting completion of a reference form. The form will be completed online. Students submitting more than one application will need to use the same individuals as references for each application.
Applicants also must register online for computer matching and select their dietetic internship priority choices by 11:59 PM. Central Time on February 15, 2015. There is a $50.00 computer matching fee.
D&D Digital Application Process (i.e., computer matching)
The University of Florida participates in the April Computer Match. Applicants who wish to be considered for our program must participate in the computer matching process. Follow this link to access the DPD-April2014-Computer-Matching-Calendar.
Applicants should access the D&D Digital Systems website to register for computer matching. There is a $50.00 charge for the computer matching process that must be paid online using a credit card (VISA/MASTERCARD) with a USA billing address. After payment is completed, you will receive a username and password that will allow online access to enter, verify and change, if necessary, your contact information, release information and dietetic internship rankings. Registration should be made well enough in advance to allow for unforeseeable computer problems or billing issues. The deadline for registering for the computer match is 11:59 PM on February 15, 2014. Applicants who have registered for the match by February 15, 2014 can reorder Dietetic Internship priority rankings; however, no additional internships can be added to the list. No changes in DI rankings can be made after 11:59 PM Central Time March 31, 2015. Applicants are responsible for notifying D&D Digital, in writing, of a decision to withdraw from the matching process if circumstances will prevent them from accepting a match that may occur. Applicants are responsible for telephoning D&D Digital if they cannot access the D&D Digital Internet site to view their personal matching results on Notification Day.
