Distance Ed Students

There can be three different types of students taking Man's Food (FOS2001).

    • On-Campus Web - these students are physically taking courses in Gainesville on a daily or weekly basis. Note: this section is offered Fall, Spring and Summer B Term

       

    • Off-Campus Web - these students are physically away from campus and it would be a hardship for them to come to Gainesville. Note: this section is offered Fall, Spring and Summer B Term

      1. These students MUST GET PRIOR APPROVAL to be considered Off-Campus students. Approval is through Email to:

      2. In Summer B semester, there may be a special section called DEPT that you can register for as a Distance Ed student. This is controlled by the Food Science and Human Nutrition Dept. Note: You will not be allowed into this section if you are taking courses on-campus. You may contact:
      3. NOTE: UNLESS YOU ARE ON THE OFF-CAMPUS WEB LIST or DE SECTION SUMMER B SEMESTER (item #2 above), DO NOT FOLLOW OFF-CAMPUS WEB DIRECTIONS, OTHERWISE YOU WILL RECEIVE A ZERO FOR ASSIGNMENTS AND TESTS. THEY WILL BE CONSIDERED NOT TURNED IN
      1. Make sure you have a Gatorlink account established.  You need an active gatorlink account to obtain the lectures and complete the exams. Students who do not have a Gatorlink ID or who cannot remember their Gatorlink information should go to the Gatorlink Website:  http://gatorlink.ufl.edu or CIRCA Help Desk: CSE520D, 392-HELP.
      2. Purchase the course materials through Pearson.
      3. Remember - each exam is for its respective module so make sure you have reviewed the module lessons before the exam.  It is recommended that you keep up with the weekly lessons to avoid getting behind.
      4. Your computer should meet the University of Florida computer requirements , including a sound card and a 56K modem.  You will also need RealPlayer, Windows Media Player (Link to get these) and Macromedia Flash Player (Link) for introductions and examples.
    • You will take the exam like any of the other students during a specific time range according to your alphabetical name.
