Dietetics Undergraduate Program
Dietetics is a challenging profession that applies the science of food and nutrition to the health and well-being of individuals and groups. The Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) at the University of Florida is a program the meets the Standards of Education set forth by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). The mission of the program is provide a progressive and effective program to educate students using a science-based food and nutrition curriculum to produce graduates who are competitive for supervised practice experiences or health- or science-related profession or graduate school.
Students completing the program earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition with a specialization in Dietetics. Students are eligible to compete for placement in an ACEND accredited dietetic internship once they complete their undergraduate degree. Following the completion of an internship, students will take a national registration examination to earn the Registered Dietitian (RD) credential.

The DPD Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), the accrediting body of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, 120 South Riverside Drive, Chicago, IL 60606-6955, 1-800-877-1600.

Graduation from the DPD Program requires 120 credits. Dietetic students complete courses that meet the Foundation Knowledge Requirement and Learning Outcomes for accredited dietetics programs and include courses in the following fields:
