Admission Requirements

Admission to our MS-DI Program is a two-step process that begins with successful admission to the graduate school. Successful applicants must meet the minimum eligibility requirements of the University of Florida Graduate School in order to be considered by our department. These requirements include:

Applicants who meet the minimum requirements are reviewed by the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department's Graduate Coordinator and Nutritional Sciences faculty. Faculty members review the applicants’ transcripts with attention to the strength of their background and performance in biology, chemistry, biochemistry and related courses. The strength of the letters of recommendation, written quality of the statement of interest, and GRE scores are also considered. Applicants accepted into our graduate program progress to the second step of the process if their application materials:

The selection team reviews each packet and finalizes the ranking based on the strength of their letters of recommendation, statement of interest, and work/volunteer/leadership experiences. The names of the prospective students selected by the selection team are submitted to D&D Digital in the order in which they are ranked (i.e., 1 = highest).  Factors that are NOT considered during the ranking process are marital status, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
