Janna Underhill

Janna was recognized as an outstanding volunteer by the Florida Section Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) for 2012-2013.

Janna has been attending IFT meetings since she started in Food Science and Human Nutrition in 1997, and that year she initially volunteered by helping to recruit and supervise students. Over time, Janna’s volunteering became much more involved, and in 2005 she became a part of the executive board. She is considered the “University of Florida FSHN Liaison” for IFT. Janna currently serves as the Chair of the Florida Section IFT/University of Florida Social Hour Committee, a Member of the Scholarship Committee, and a Member of the Suppliers’ Night Committee. She served as Co-Chair of the Sessions Committee for the National IFT Annual Meeting in 2006. Additionally, Janna was a part of the Florida Section Institute of Food Technologists, who received the Section of Excellence Award for 2006-2007 and for 2008-2009.

In her letter of commendation, Sharon Kneebone, Director of Membership, Institute of Food Technologists, Washington, DC said, “All too often, we take for granted the positive efforts of the few, who by their contributions benefit many. Such is the case with Janna, and we wanted to make sure you know how much we value her time and dedication…”.

Thanks Janna for all you do and for representing the state of Florida, the University of Florida, IFAS, and Food Science & Human Nutrition in all of your outstanding efforts.
