Dr. Gu and Team attend International Blueberry Congress in China
In June 2013, two FSHN faculty members (Drs. Liwei Gu and George Baker) and four students (graduate students Amanda Ford, Brittany Martin Hubbard, and Celia Lynch and undergraduate student Caitlyn Soriano) went on a two-week trip to China. This trip was sponsored by a USDA grant, and its purpose was to promote international collaboration in the area of functional food research and education.
While in China, the group attended an International Blueberry Congress in Qingdao where Dr. Gu was a forum moderator. Most of the trip was spent at Jiangnan University in Wuxi. While at Jiangnan, the group interacted with members of the State Key Laboratory of Food Science and Technology. Students from both universities presented their current research. Additionally, the FSHN group attended lectures and went on excursions pertaining to food culture in China. The FSHN group had an amazing experience visiting China, and took away a vast amount of new knowledge and memories to last a lifetime.
